What the fact-checkers found
This rather compelling picture depicting a four headed, two bodied snake is currently slithering its way around the interwebs. Most people who come across the image will probably realise that the image is the result of digital manipulation via image editing software such as Adobe Photoshop.
Nevertheless, a few people have contacted me to ask if the picture shows a real reptile. Others are curious as to the origin of the source image.
In fact, the digital creation is made using the following genuine image depicting a snake with two heads. Clearly, the prankster has used some fairly simple editing techniques to mirror the snake and combine it into one four headed, two bodied version.
Such two headed snakes are quite rare, but are reported from time to time. The snake in the above picture was found in the backyard of a home in South Carolina several years ago.
And fake multi headed snakes images have been featured in several earlier hoax messages, including three, five, and even seven head versions.

Fake Picture: ‘Thailand Snake Girl’ – Serpentosis Malianorcis
Of course, the message is just a silly hoax and the image is the result of digital tomfoolery. There is no snake girl. Nor are there any credible references to a condition called “Serpentosis Malianorcis”.
